JRJ Architects is seeking a candidate with 6 years plus years of experience in an architectural office with the ability to assist in project management and leadership. We are looking for a Senior Job Captain to enhance our team’s ability to provide outstanding service to our clients and help us to meet future demands and opportunities.
Overview: Transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using computer aided design (CAD) software applications. Ensures drawings and designs adhere to established specifications and standards.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Produce architecture drafting and/or 3D modeling for assigned projects, using design software.
- Collaborate with Architects, Designers, and Project Managers to ensure drafting products accurately reflect design and specifications.
- Perform red-line changes and document revisions as necessary.
- Assist project team with creation of professional documents for RFPs and interviews.
- Conduct design work for assigned projects. Research and select materials and finishes in accordance with project needs, client specifications, and Firm standards. Check on the availability of selected materials, ensuring selections will work with project budget and timeline. Create and provide clients with design sketches as needed.
- Keep Project Architect/Project Manager for assigned projects informed of schedule, budget, and project progression in a proactive manner. Field questions and concerns, ensuring client satisfaction.
- Coordinate the working drawing set for assigned projects. Compile professional quality conceptual plans, renderings, and associated documents from project team members, ensuring all documents meet Firm standards.
- Ensure all project and design details are accurately tracked and recorded in an organized manner. Ensure project files are up to date at all times, and easily accessible to project team members.
- Conduct site visits as assigned, and document conditions/progress reports during the design and construction phases of assigned projects.
Other Responsibilities:
- Participate in RFP (Request for Proposal) documentation and interviews as assigned
- Other responsibilities as assigned by leadership
Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent understanding of drafting principals and best practices.
- Knowledge of architectural and structural drawings, and the ability to translate design concepts into professionally drafted designs.
- The ability to research and stay abreast of new drafting techniques and design software applications.
- Visual awareness and an eye for detail and excellent drawing skills.
- Ability to work autonomously through all project phases.
- Ability to effectively complete assigned projects within schedule parameters
- Ability to work efficiently and switch priorities as needed to manage tasks for multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work calmly and effectively under deadline.
- Ability to ensure work and activities are fiscally responsible and meet budget requirements.
- Effective and professional written & verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and be self-directed.
- Cooperative & collaborative team member. Ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner with all co-workers, clients, consultants, construction agencies, general contractors, users, authorities having jurisdiction, and other business partners.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude in the office regarding work assignments, team work, and company mission.
- Proficient and efficient in use of Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam and other industry standard design software applications. Proficient in standard office procedures, software, and communications technology.
- Previous regional Healthcare architecture experience preferred.
Education & Work Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree to minimum with 6 years plus professional experience in an architecture environment.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Work is usually performed in an in-person indoor office environment with long periods at a desk. Environment is collaborative and subject to occasional work interruptions. Employees may work under pressure to meet deadlines.
